Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 07.10.2026 · Last Updated: 07.10.2026
Felvar is a food decision app for iPhone: it helps you decide what to eat from what you already have, keeps your recipes in one library and fills your grocery list. This policy explains what Felvar stores, where it lives, who else processes it, and how to delete it.
The short version. Your grocery list, your folders and your chat history stay on your phone. If you create an account, your saved recipes, your username and your food preferences are stored on our server. Photos of your fridge, recipe imports and chat messages are processed by Google Gemini to give you an answer; we do not keep the fridge photos. We use PostHog for anonymous product analytics and the Meta SDK to measure our own ads. We never sell your data.
1. Who is responsible
Felvar is operated by Christos Alexis Fantino, Switzerland, who is the controller of your personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: legal.fodes@hotmail.com.
2. Using Felvar without an account
You can open Felvar and look around without an account. Some actions ask you to sign in first. When you use an AI feature without an account, the request is sent to our server without any account identity, and usage limits are counted per IP address.
3. Your account
You can create an account with Sign in with Apple or with Google. We store:
- a unique user identifier
- your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you hide your email)
- your name, if Apple or Google shares it
- the username you choose
- your device language and the time you last opened the app
Your account is shared with our companion apps Caltria and Pantral: the same sign in works there. Deleting your Felvar account deletes that shared account, including any data stored for it in those apps (see section 12).
4. Your food preferences
During setup Felvar asks about your eating: diet, allergies, foods you dislike, how long you like to cook, your cooking skill, favourite cuisines, the staples you keep at home, how often you want to cook, and how you heard about Felvar. The answers are saved on your phone and, once you have an account, stored with it on our server so suggestions can respect them.
Allergies and diets can reveal information about your health. We use them only to tailor meal and recipe suggestions, they are sent to Google Gemini as part of a request when relevant (section 6), and they are never used for advertising.
5. Recipes, folders and your grocery list
- Saved recipes are stored on our server with your account.
- Recipe imports. When you import from a link or a TikTok, the link is sent to our server, which fetches the page or video and has Google Gemini turn it into a recipe. Recipes imported from a link are cached on our server by link so the next import is fast; that cache holds the recipe, not who imported it. Pasted text is processed the same way and is not cached.
- Photos you add to a recipe you write yourself are uploaded to our cloud storage, where they are reachable by anyone who has the photo's address.
- Folders and the grocery list are stored only on your phone.
6. AI processing
Felvar uses Google Gemini, through our own server, to:
- recognise the food in photos of your fridge, and suggest meals from it
- answer your messages in the Felvar chat with recipe ideas
- turn imported links, videos and text into recipes
With a request we send what is needed to answer it: the photos or messages, and where relevant your food preferences. Fridge photos are processed and not stored by us. Your chat history is stored on your phone; recipes the chat suggests are stored on our server so they can be opened again. To keep the service fair we count AI requests per account (or per IP address without an account).
Google processes this content as our service provider under its API terms. Do not include information in a photo or message that you do not want processed.
7. Camera and photos
Felvar uses the camera, and photos you pick from your library, only for the fridge scan and for photos you add to your own recipes. Nothing is taken without your action.
8. Subscriptions
Felvar Membership is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription status information and, when you are signed in, your Felvar user identifier so your membership follows your account.
9. Product analytics
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand how Felvar is used: app opens, setup steps, fridge scans, the paywall, and completed purchases with the plan, price and currency, plus the answer to "how did you hear about Felvar". Events are tied to a random identifier for your installation, never to your account, your name or your email. Screen recording is off.
10. Advertising measurement (Meta)
We advertise Felvar on Meta's platforms (Facebook and Instagram). To know whether those ads work, the app includes the Meta SDK, which tells Meta that the app was installed and opened, how long it was used, and when an in app purchase was made, together with technical information about the device and the app. It does not receive your recipes, photos, messages, food preferences or account details.
Felvar does not ask for permission to track you and does not use the advertising identifier, so Meta measures our ads in aggregated form (Apple's SKAdNetwork and Meta's Aggregated Event Measurement). Meta processes this information under its own privacy policy.
11. Feedback
If you send feedback from the app, we store your message and its category with your account.
12. Retention and deletion
- Account data, saved recipes and preferences are kept while your account exists.
- Data on your phone stays until you delete it or remove the app.
- Analytics, subscription and advertising records are kept by PostHog, RevenueCat and Meta according to their policies.
You can delete your account in the app: Profile, Account, Delete Account. This deletes your account and everything stored with it on our server, including data stored for the same account in Caltria and Pantral. Records held by RevenueCat, PostHog or Meta are not linked to your name; write to legal.fodes@hotmail.com if you want us to request their deletion. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

14. Legal bases
We process data to provide the app and your account (contract), to keep it secure, improve it and measure our advertising (legitimate interest), and where you give it, with your consent, for example your food preferences.
15. International transfers
Data may be processed in Switzerland, the European Union and the United States by the providers above. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
16. Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing. Write to legal.fodes@hotmail.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority, in Switzerland the FDPIC.
17. Children
Felvar is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian before buying a subscription.
18. Food and health
Suggestions, recipes and ingredient lists are generated automatically and can be wrong. Felvar does not give medical or dietary advice. Always check ingredients and allergens yourself.
19. Changes
We update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always at felvar.app/privacypolicy, with the date at the top.
